- Your eyes are composed of more than 2 million working parts
The average person blinks 12 times per minute – about 10,000 blinks in an average day
Your eyes can process 36,000 bits of information every hour.
The external muscles that move the eyes are the strongest muscles in the human body for the job that they have to do. They are 100 times more powerful than they need to be.
The focusing muscles of the eyes move around 100,000 times a day. To give your leg muscles the same workout, you would need to walk 80km (50 miles) every day.
Today….Consider your body and the amazing design of it all. How complex is every little cell? With so many things that could possibly go wrong during conception, pregnancy, delivery, and life….how amazing is it that you have been perfectly formed and created??
The physical function – apart from the psychological and spiritual function – of human beings is a wondrously amazing testimony to our great Creator. Even Charles Darwin, in his Origin of the Species, said this about the human eye:
“To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree.â€
Yet, he went on to dismiss this “absurdityâ€, writing three and a half pages describing a highly imaginative story, stringing together several “intermediate†stages to explain how the process from “simple†light-sensitive spots to “complex†eyes may have taken place.
