HONORING Cpt Joshua Sean Lawrence
Flags over the Tennessee Capitol and all state office buildings, including Austin Peay State University, will be flown at half-staff on Friday, Oct. 21 in honor of U.S. Army Capt. Joshua Sean Lawrence. Flags will be lowered at 9 a.m., Friday and raised again to full staff at 4 p.m.
Lawrence, 29, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in Afghanistan, where he was deployed. He graduated in 2004 from APSU, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
He enlisted in the Army in June 2005 and served two tours in Korea. He is survived by his wife, Brittany Harris Lawrence of Kernersville, N.C. He married her on May 31, 2011, and was deployed seven days later on June 7, 2011, to Afghanistan. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert William Lawrence. Survivors also include his mother, Judy Norman Lawrence, Nashville; one sister, Maj. Kendra Lawrence, of Silver Spring, Md.; and a brother, Zachary Lawrence, of Nashville.
Full military funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 at First Baptist Church of Goodlettsville, located at 613 S. Main St., Goodlettsville, Tenn. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 at the church and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday. Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville is in charge of the arrangements. Contributions may be given in memory of Capt. We will be honoring Cpt Joshua Sean Lawrence tomorrow through a Hero WOD that we will be creating for him. I hope that you will all come in to pay tribute to this young man. He has paid the ultimate sacrafice for our freedom. Please be in prayer for his wife and his sweet family. Comfort, healing, restoration, love and understanding in this situation can only be given by our Father.
