Hello everyone, to start things off I’m married to the great Femia Mcelveen, we have a 26yrs old daughter, and a 22yrs old son with one 3 year old fantastic grandson. I’m a veteran of 25 years, proudly served in the U.S. Army; I have lived in Clarksville, Tn. since 1995.
I have always been a sports nut, I’ve been lucky to play many sports to include, track, football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, just to name a few. While in the Army I watched some Looney Army officer do a workout that had me curious, he was running, jumping on boxes, lifting funny looking weights; all in the same workout and at a non-stop pace. I said to myself that young man is going to get hurt or pass-out not sure which one would happen first. As the story goes a year later I tried Crossfit and never looked back, I’m still trying to regain the mobility I once had at 4 yrs old, don’t have it yet but will keep trying till I do.
During my journey with Crossfit I’ve learned so much about myself and others. In the beginning I thought maybe I was told old, huh, now I know that was just an excuse to not get in shape. I’ve seen young, old, wounded warriors, mentally and physically, handicapped folks do crossfit. I can’t and won’t have any excuses after witnessing what determination can achieve.
I’ve had the honor to be involved in so many athletes’ lives and look forward to being involved in many more. An old friend told me once “Tony, It’s great to be needed” that has resonated in my mind every day. So, be strong, stay healthy, and always know your needed.
