My name is Andy Lyons and I have been doing CrossFit since 2012 and love it! I was born and raised right here in Clarksville. I am a Principal of an elementary school here and have been in the education world for 15 years – I enjoy every minute of it. I have always enjoyed working with children and doing my best to give back to the community each and everyday. I have always wanted to live a healthy lifestyle, but just never really had the direction that I needed to make it successful for me. I began running in my mid to late twenties and found out that I really enjoyed running and was losing weight and getting in better shape. However, I was still not eating well and the losing and gaining weight became a vicious cycle for me. I attended a local gym for years, but really had no idea what I was doing. I would go there and do some cardio and maybe some of the machines, but that’s about all. The gym has always been somewhat of an intimidating place for me, which is interesting because growing up my dad was a competitive body builder and owned his own gym where I worked as a teenager.
In 2012, I attended the grand opening of CrossFit SolaFide intrigued with all the hype of CrossFit. While at the grand opening I completed an 8 min AMRAP of sit-ups, push-ups, air squats and burpees and I thought it was possible that I could die right there. I had never sweated so much from such a short workout in my life. From that moment on I knew I needed to get involved with CrossFit and I have loved it every since. I attend the CrossFit Endurance and CrossFit classes each week and I am now in my mid-thirties and in the best shape of my life. I continue to run and have increased my speed thanks to CrossFit. At this point I have completed 14 half marathons and one full marathon. I love the CrossFit community and how we support one another. I am excited to be coaching at CrossFit SolaFide and given the privilege of helping fellow CrossFit athletes be the best they can be and meet their fitness goals.
